Nature Cure for Holistic Health and Wellness
Ayurveda is derived from root word Ayur meaning Life and Veda meaning Knowledge. Ayurveda is an ancient science, originating thousand years ago in India ,not only emphasizes on physical(Gross) body but also provides an integrated approach of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
According to ayurveda, each body is different and unique in its own and needs tailored approach for maintaining optimal health.
In ayurveda texts, dosha balance is emphasized, and suppressing natural urges is considered unhealthy and claimed to lead to illness. Ayurveda treatises describe three elemental doshas: vāta, pitta and kapha, and state of equilibrium or optimal balance of the doshas results in health, while imbalance results in disease and disorders.
Prakriti
Prakriti refers to the natural constitution of an individual. It encompasses both the physical body and the mental body.
The term “Prakriti” is derived from sanskrit word “pra” which means “original” or “source of origin” and “kriti” which means “to form“. Together, prakriti signifies the natural form or inherent balance of an individual.
As per ayurveda, the human body is characterized by three fundamental energies or humours coined as Doshas, one of which is predominantly determined at the conception stage of an individual and remains unchanged till death ,forming the prakriti of the person.
- Vata: Associated with movement, creativity and change.
- Pitta: Linked to metabolism, digestion and transformation.
- Kapha: Governs stability, structure and lubrication.
Understanding one’s own prakriti helps in better health management and empowers the individual to foster their personal growth by taking informed choices for a fulfilling healthy life. Hence, knowing your constitution is the key to your health as it is essential for understanding which lifestyle is best suited to you.
